Residents of Upper Nyack are being offered a valuable opportunity to enhance their home safety with free smoke alarm installations, thanks to a collaboration with the American Red Cross. On Wednesday, April 16, 23, and May 7, Red Cross volunteers will be in the area, providing and installing state-of-the-art smoke detectors, free of charge, to ensure the safety of local residents.
The free service includes the installation of 10-year, no-battery-changing-ever smoke alarms, which are designed to provide peace of mind by eliminating the need for regular battery replacements. In addition to the installation, residents will receive a brief home fire safety chat to help further protect their homes and loved ones.
Each installation is quick, typically taking around 20-25 minutes, and the Red Cross team will also check existing smoke detectors to ensure they are functioning properly. It’s important to note that the service does not include the installation of carbon monoxide (CO2) detectors.
Bob Berger, an Upper Nyack resident, is personally overseeing the initiative and will be present at each installation. Residents are encouraged to make appointments by texting Bob at 415-652-0847 with their name, address, and preferred time slot on any of the available days. He will confirm appointments and address any questions or concerns directly.
This is a great opportunity for Upper Nyack residents to ensure their homes are equipped with reliable smoke detection technology, helping to keep families safe in the event of a fire. Residents can also contact the Metro North Red Cross Chapter directly for more information and to schedule an installation.
