NEW CITY, N.Y. — A Spring Valley man has been charged with possession of child pornography following an investigation conducted by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, officials announced.
Thomas E. Walsh II said Dimitri Ferguson, 33, of Spring Valley was arrested after investigators executed a search warrant at his residence as part of a child exploitation investigation.
Ferguson was arraigned May 6 before Judge Patricia Brimais-Tenemille in Spring Valley Justice Court on a felony complaint charging him with possessing a sexual performance by a child, according to prosecutors.
Officials said the investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children submitted a CyberTipline report that was referred to the county’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Investigators later executed a search warrant on March 17, 2025, at Ferguson’s home seeking electronic devices connected to the investigation, authorities said.
The investigation involved the District Attorney’s Office, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, New York State Police and Homeland Security Investigations.
According to prosecutors, Ferguson was released on his own recognizance because the charges are classified as non-bail qualifying offenses under New York law.
“Protecting children from sexual predators using the internet to exploit them is a top priority for my office and I’m proud of the work the Rockland County District Attorney’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted,” Walsh said in a statement.
The case is being prosecuted by Supervising Assistant District Attorney Gerard M. Damiani III of the Special Victims Unit.
Criminal charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
