Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that Holger Chuya-Andrade, 32 of Spring Valley, New York was found guilty on all counts after a Jury Trial before Judge Kevin Russo that commenced on September 8, 2022 and concluded on September 16, 2022. The defendant was convicted on one count of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child (Class A-II Felony) and one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree (Class B Felony).
From May 1, 2011 through May 1, 2014, the defendant engaged in a course of sexual abuse which started when the victim was 7 years old and lasted until she was 10 years old. Chuya-Andrade is the victim’s biological uncle.
District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II said, “The verdict of guilty on all counts by a jury is the first step in securing justice for the victim. My office will work tirelessly to protect innocent children. Heinous crimes against children in Rockland County are reprehensible and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Chuya-Andrade was remanded to Rockland County Jail until sentencing on November 21, 2022. The defendant faces a maximum sentence of life in prison on the top count. In addition, Chuya-Andrade will have to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
The investigation was handled by the Spring Valley Police Department with the assistance of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit. Supervising Assistant District Attorney Gerard M. Damiani III and Assistant District Attorney Morgan Czarnik prosecuted the case.
