- Tom Davis, experienced Supreme Court practitioner, seeks seat as Justice in 9th Judicial District Poughkeepsie, NY
- Thomas R. (“Tom”) Davis, a 29-year Supreme Court practitioner from Dutchess County is seeking one of five open Supreme Court Justice seats in this year’s general election in the 9th Judicial District.
- The 9th Judicial District is comprised of Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester Counties. Davis’ name will appear as the first person on the ballot in each of those counties.
- Davis has been nominated for the position by both the Democratic and Republican parties.
- “It is a great honor to be chosen by both parties as one of their nominees for the five open positions,” Davis said. “I think it’s a testimony to my reputation for fairness and my experience.”
- Davis has practiced law in the 9th Judicial District since 1992. He has had a career working in many areas of the law – family law, criminal law and personal injury law among others. Davis graduated cum laude from the New England School of Law in Boston.
- Davis has been rated “highly qualified” by the Rockland County Bar Association for the Justice position – their highest rating.
- Davis has been an advocate for the disabled for many years, serving most recently on the executive committee of Abilities First, Inc. a large not-for-profit organization serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Abilities First provides educational, recreational and rehabilitative services to a large population of individuals. Prior to Abilities First, Davis was on the board of trustees of the Down Syndrome Association of the Hudson Valley.
- Davis is currently an attorney at the law firm of Sobo & Sobo, working from their Poughkeepsie office. He resides in Dutchess County with his wife of 28 years and daughter.
- He has been endorsed by the following: Westchester/Putnam Central Labor Body, Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation AFL-CIO, Westchester County Correction Officers Benevolent Association, Dutchess Democratic Women’s Coalition, Dutchess County Young Democrats, Westchester County Police PBA, Latino Democrats of Dutchess County, The Dutchess County Stonewall Democrats, Congressman Mondaire Jones, and Westchester County Executive George Latimer.
