New City, NY – Two defendants arrested as part of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office’s “Operation Spring Cleaning” have pleaded guilty to felony drug charges stemming from crack cocaine sales in Nyack earlier this year, according to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
Tyrone Stewart, 35, and Frantz Beauvais, 39, entered their guilty pleas on Sept. 22 before Judge David Ascher in Rockland County Court. Both men are scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 15.
Stewart pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
As part of his plea, Stewart admitted that he sold crack cocaine to another person in Nyack in exchange for money on two separate occasions, Feb. 26 and April 14.
Stewart is expected to be sentenced as a second felony drug offender to four years in state prison followed by two years of post-release supervision on each count. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning they will be served at the same time.
Beauvais pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Beauvais admitted that he sold crack cocaine to another person in Nyack in exchange for money on March 11.
Beauvais is expected to be sentenced as a second felony drug offender with a prior violent felony conviction. His anticipated sentence is seven years in state prison followed by between 1½ and three years of post-release supervision.
The cases resulted from “Operation Spring Cleaning,” an investigation conducted by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force. The operation was conducted under the direction of Chief of Investigators Deirdre Smith and Drug Task Force Director William Martinez.
The Rockland County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force includes investigators from the District Attorney’s Office and officers from the Ramapo Police Department, Haverstraw Police Department and Suffern Police Department.
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II credited the participating law enforcement agencies and investigators for their work during the operation. Walsh said the convictions demonstrate the role coordinated investigations can play in addressing illegal drug sales in Rockland County.
Walsh also cited the continuing risks associated with cocaine and praised members of the Drug Task Force, along with Smith and Martinez, for their work on the investigation.
The cases against Stewart and Beauvais were handled separately by prosecutors in the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office. Executive Assistant District Attorney Michael Peterson prosecuted one case, while Assistant District Attorney Tina Thermadam prosecuted the other.
Both defendants have now entered guilty pleas rather than proceeding to trial. Their sentences are expected to be formally imposed during their scheduled Dec. 15 appearances in Rockland County Court.
The guilty pleas are among the prosecutions resulting from Operation Spring Cleaning, an enforcement initiative targeting illegal drug activity in Rockland County.
