West Nyack, NY โ As of 3:30 p.m. Friday, West Nyack Road has officially reopened to two-way traffic following significant progress on the area’s revitalization project. The contractor has completed base compaction and installed temporary barriers and sidewalks, making it safe for vehicles and pedestrians during this interim phase.
Over the next six to eight weeks, work will continue, particularly focusing on utility installations, as subcontractors for various utility companies begin running wires through the newly installed underground conduits. Meanwhile, the general contractor will advance with drainage improvements and other infrastructure upgrades, especially near Western Highway.
Drivers are urged to use caution when passing through the area, as the road is temporarily narrower near the Eastern culvert. A short-term closure will be required again in the future to allow for final pile driving and culvert completion once utility poles are removed.
For now, the reopening marks a positive step forward in the revitalization effort, offering improved access while work continues.
