PIEDMONT, SC – An 18-year-old suspect has been apprehended in connection with the shooting death of a 29-year-old man in Haverstraw, Rockland County.
The Town of Haverstraw Police Department announced on Saturday, July 27, the arrest of Yandi Martinez for the homicide that occurred on Monday, July 1. Martinez, a resident of Haverstraw, was taken into custody at 1:20 p.m. in Piedmont, South Carolina. This arrest was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Special Investigations Team (FASIT), the FBI-Westchester Safe Streets task force, and the FBI-Columbia Division.
The victim, Christian Alvarado of Pomona, was found shot dead near a vehicle that had crashed into a parked car in the area of Fairmount Avenue and West Street in Haverstraw following reports of shots fired.
