Orangeburg, NY – When appointments unexpectedly shift for busy reporters, a time-tested strategy is to duck into a local cafe, regroup and get ready for the next appointment, and pay heed to wherever the almighty calendar tells the person to travel next. Especially if s/he likes coffee.
Such was the case for Cesar A., this morning in Orangeburg – when a sudden cancellation resulted in an enjoyable visit to The Perk House Coffee Co. in Orangeburg, NY.
The cafe, located in the Town’s Prel Plaza is also home to Crecco’s Pizza, just 100 feet away on the opposite end of the mixed-use office and retail complex. The Perk House is a spin-off from Crecco’s, which has always served pizza and Italian cuisine as its primary offering. The establishment is now renamed Crecco’s Cafe. With the new Perk House as its brother-in-retail arms, both locations benefit from a loyal customer base and foot traffic.

in short…visitors to the plaza can chow down on paisano cuisine – and then immediately walk a mere dozen yards to the Perk House, to recharge with the greatest invention since water: Coffee.
If you find yourself in Orangeburg, NY and haven’t yet stumbled into The Perk House Coffee Co., it might be time to re-evaluate your life choices—or at least your coffee bean sources. In addition to quite possibly the freshest coffee north of Colombia, the cafe has a clean, relaxed and well-designed ambiance that would give Starbucks’ interior designers a run for their money.
The Reviews Pour Over in Approval
Why am I so emphatic in this review? Well, as a person who emigrated from Colombia in the 1970’s, and whose son daily grinds his own beans every morning for himself and his family, that part of my humanity is one hell of a coffee snob. So, when I find good coffee – I cannot remain silent.
Of course, don’t just take my word on it. Let’s take a look at some customer reviews – using some quick research on Yelp and Google. (But seriously. I’m right.)
One Yelp reviewer recently put it, “smooth, rich, and clearly made with care.” Another coffee aficionado boldly stated, “as a coffee & matcha snob, I approve the coffee.” (That’s basically the coffee equivalent of a blessing from the Pope.) And one recent Google Reviewer stated, “Great new coffee spot with a full kitchen — not just pastries and drinks, but real meals too! You can tell owner Joseph put a lot of care into the space and the menu. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Definitely worth a visit!”
Menu: Supported by Full Kitchen Staff

Regarding the menu, it’s not just pastries and drip coffee here, folks. They’ve got a full kitchen. Yes, full—as in brunch-worthy breakfast sandwiches, smoothie bowls, cinnamon buns that apparently cause marital envy, and even burrito bowls.
And for the gluten-free warriors out there—this place has your back. From GF bread to the whimsically labeled “Griswold GF Treats” on the Christmas menu (yes, a reference to National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation), The Perk House manages to sprinkle holiday cheer and pop culture references onto your plate.
The vibeis inviting, warm, and with the kind of staff who make you feel like you’re Norm walking into Cheers. “Great vibes and service,” “superb coffee,” “my new favorite any-time-of-the-day coffee shop”—the Yelp love notes continued.
What really ties the Perk House experience together, though, is the clear heart behind the operation. From the thoughtful menu crafted by owner Joseph to the cheerful FB, Instagram presence, this place doesn’t just serve coffee—it serves the local community.
So, whether you’re a matcha dabbler, espresso purist, or just someone who enjoys a good cinnamon bun and a great movie pun, The Perk House Coffee Co. might just become your new daily habit. I give it 4.9 stars – which is the same aggregate rating as 95 reviewers from Google Reviews provided. But my rating should bear more weight. Because I’m Colombian. I’m kidding. But I’m also serious.
In the words of Clark W. Griswold himself: “We’re gonna have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny F. Kaye.” At The Perk House, every season comes with that same kind of caffeinated joy.
