SPRING VALLEY, NY — A free spring break program aimed at keeping children active and engaged will be offered later this month for elementary school students in Rockland County.
The Cornell Cooperative Extension Rockland County 4-H, in partnership with the Rockland County Youth Bureau and the Village of Spring Valley, will host the “4-H Fit & Fun Spring Break Program” from March 30 through April 3.
The program will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day at the Martin Luther King Jr. Multi‑Purpose Center (Darden Center) and is open to youth ages 8 to 10, typically students in grades three through five.
The weeklong program is designed to give children a safe and structured way to stay active and explore new interests during the school break.
Activities will include yoga and meditation, martial arts instruction, gardening projects, outdoor adventures, dance and Zumba sessions. Participants will also receive snacks and lunch each day.
Program coordinators said the initiative focuses on promoting healthy habits, physical activity and social interaction among young people while school is not in session.
Officials said the collaboration among county and village organizations reflects an ongoing effort to expand youth programming and provide families with accessible opportunities for enrichment during school holidays.
