8th Annual Lake DeForest Day: Come Kayak and Fish for Charity

New City, NY – The 8th Annual Lake DeForest Day invites the community to enjoy a day of kayaking and fishing for charity. The event is set to take place at Lake DeForest, with all proceeds going to Hackensack Riverkeeper.

Event Schedule:

Kayak Times:

  • 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
  • 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
  • 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM

90-minute rentals are available for $30 per paddler for single/double kayaks. Privately owned kayaks and canoes are also welcome, with a fee of $30 per vessel during the times of 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM. Kayak Registration

Firefighter Challenge:

  • 8:30 AM

The Firefighter Challenge is a tandem kayak race between Rockland’s volunteer fire departments. For participation details, contact Kurt Mulligan at kurt@kurtmulligan.com.

Fishing Derby:

  • 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Entry to the Fishing Derby is $25. Participants are encouraged to bring their fishing gear and enjoy a fun day on the Lake DeForest shoreline. Derby Registration

  • Parking is available at New City Little League Field at 39 Strawtown Road, New City.
  • Event proceeds will benefit Hackensack Riverkeeper.
