NANUET, NY – Meals on Wheels Rockland is set to host its highly anticipated annual gala, “Cornucopia,” on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Edgewood Country Club. This year’s event, now in its sixth iteration, promises an evening of fine dining, community recognition, and fundraising for a worthy cause: supporting Rockland County’s seniors.
The “Cornucopia” gala will be a one-of-a-kind dining experience featuring 21 of the Hudson Valley’s top chefs, each of whom will host a chef’s table for the 250 guests expected to attend. These celebrated chefs will prepare a unique meal for their table, offering guests not only a gourmet dinner but also personal interaction with the culinary masters behind their dishes. Guests will have the chance to chat with chefs, who will share cooking tips and anecdotes, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
The evening will commence with a cocktail hour, featuring handcrafted cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a series of exciting events, including basket raffles and a live auction, giving guests the chance to win luxury items and experiences.
This year, Meals on Wheels Rockland is proud to honor two key contributors to its mission: Pfizer and longtime volunteer Francis Brooke. Pfizer will be recognized for its continued commitment to healthcare and community service, as well as its dedicated staff who regularly volunteer with Meals on Wheels. President and CEO Kevin Hardy shared his appreciation for Pfizer’s involvement, stating, “When a Pfizer team comes in, they do whatever is needed to help our operation. They come in their purple shirts with lots of enthusiasm and deliver some routes, brightening the day of our appreciative seniors as well as our staff.”
Francis Brooke, the second honoree, has volunteered with the organization for over a decade. Known for his kindness and tireless efforts, Brooke has been a key member of the volunteer team. “Francis and his contagious spirit have been the heartbeat of our volunteer team,” said Hardy. “His unwavering dedication and compassion have touched the lives of so many seniors.”
The gala’s culinary lineup includes renowned chefs such as Luis Escobar of Stella Artisan Italian, Alain Eigenmann of Brasserie D, and Johnny Vitale of Caffe Anello, among others. Each will bring their unique flair to the event, creating a diverse and flavorful menu that highlights the best of the Hudson Valley’s food scene.
All proceeds from the event will go directly toward supporting Meals on Wheels Rockland’s mission of enhancing the wellness of older adults in the community by providing essential services that promote safety, independence, and health.
