Governor Hochul Announces Opening of Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Rockland County Following Approval of Amendment to Major Disaster Declaration

  • New Yorkers in Rockland County Eligible for Individual Assistance Can Access State and Federal Resources In-Person at New Disaster Recovery Center
  • Residents Can Receive Guidance Directly from FEMA and SBA Representatives at DRC; State Agencies Also Onsite for Access to Programs and Services
  • Rockland County DRC will be open daily from 8am to 7pm at:

Governor Hochul Announces $125 Million for Landlord Rent Relief in New York State

  • State Funding to Assist Landlords Whose Tenants Declined to Participate in New York’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program or Have Vacated with Arrears 
  • Landlords Can Now Apply for Funding Using State’s Rental Assistance Portal 
  • $804 Million In Assistance, More Than 63,000 Approved Payments to Landlords
  • Landlords that have applied to the state’s rental assistance program can complete an application for state funding through their existing account in the online portal or create a new account if they haven’t done so already.

Governor Hochul Announces State Now Accepting Applications for $1.16 Billion in FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Assistance Programs

  • The Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities, and Flood Mitigation Assistance Grant Programs Administered by NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services to Help Communities Fund Mitigation Projects
  • Following Devastation from the Remnants of Hurricane Ida, Governor Hochul Urging Municipalities and Government Agencies to Apply for Critical Funding Focused on Resiliency

Federal Economic Development Funding – EDA American Rescue Plan Programs

Under the American Rescue Plan, the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) was allocated $3 billion in supplemental funding to assist communities nationwide in their efforts to build back better by accelerating the economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic and building local economies that will be resilient to future economic shocks. Below are three important programs:

  • Build Back Better Regional ChallengeThe $1 billion for transformational investments in 20-30 regions across U.S. to revitalize economies. Opportunity to grow new regional industry clusters or scale existing ones through planning, infrastructure, innovation and entrepreneurship, workforce dev., access to capital, etc.
    • Deadline: October 19, 2021
    • Eligibility: State & local governments, higher education institutions, not-for-profit organizations
  • Good Jobs Challenge$500 million for Industry-led training programs, designed to provide skills for and connect unemployed or underemployed workers to existing and emerging job opportunities. Three project types: System Development, Program Design and Program Implementation.
    • Deadline: January 26, 2022
    • Eligibility: State & local governments, higher education institutions, not-for-profit organizations
  • Economic Adjustment Assistance$500 million available through EDA’s most flexible program. Wide range of technical, planning, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and public works and infrastructure projects are eligible for funding under this program.
    • Deadline: March 15, 2022 (suggested; applications reviewed on a rolling basis)
    • Eligibility: State & local governments, higher education institutions, not-for-profit organizations

Governor Hochul Announces $36 Million “Regional Clean Energy Hubs” Initiative to Help Provide Clean Energy Solutions And Opportunities at the Community Level

  • Program Will Improve Community Engagement and Ensure Disadvantaged Communities Benefit from New York’s Clean Energy Transition
  • Initiative Supports New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act Goal to Deliver at Least 35% of Benefits of Clean Energy Investments to Disadvantaged Communities
  • Organizations interested in being listed in the Clearinghouse for a potential teaming arrangement must submit a Statement of Interest Form
  • Proposals will be accepted through November 23, 2021

Project Highlights

Empire State Development Announces the Completion of Phase 1 of Hudson House & Distillery’s $1.8 Million New Craft Distillery, Tasting Room and Event Space in Ulster County

  • New Distillery a Welcome Addition to the Growing Craft Beverage and Hospitality Economy in the Mid-Hudson Region
  • The Star Estate Development Group DBA Hudson House & Distillery located at the former 27-acre Christian Brothers monastery in West Park, in the Town of Esopus, Ulster County.
  • The first phase of the project involved significant site improvements and infrastructure upgrades to establish a craft distillery, tasting room, event space and catering kitchen with a 4,500 square foot outdoor deck.
  • The company invested $1.8 million to purchase and rehabilitate two existing buildings on site. This project will allow Hudson House & Distillery to source its ingredients from local farms and businesses which will greatly reduce its carbon footprint and transportation costs.

  • Child Care:Parents in need of free child care resources and referrals are encouraged to visit www.HVChildCare.org, where they can enter their zip code to immediately find the name and contact information of the agency that serves their location.
  • NYS DOL Shared Work Program: New York State’s DOL Shared Work Program helps businesses manage business cycles and seasonal adjustments. Shared Work lets businesses keep trained staff and avoid layoffs. Employees can receive partial unemployment insurance benefits while working reduced hours. Full-time, part-time and seasonal employees are eligible.
