“I was delighted to hear the New York Attorney General’s announcement that Central Valley wedding venue Falkirk Estate & Golf Course will be required to refund couples whose weddings were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In 2020, we received a request for assistance from Ethan Goldman and Jhunaissy Hidalgo, a young couple who paid Falkirk a $10,000 deposit just weeks before pandemic shutdowns went into effect. The company’s own refund policy made space for such unforeseeable circumstances, and Ethan and Jhunaissy sought to be reimbursed but heard crickets from Falkirk.
“My team and I supported Ethan and Jhunaissy during their complaint filing with the Attorney General’s office, sent a letter to the AG on their behalf, and reached out to Falkirk multiple times.
“Today’s announcement means there’s light at the end of the aisle for the many couples whose plans were thrown into disarray by a once-in-a-lifetime global pandemic. As they reschedule their nuptials, those special days should be filled with blissful optimism, not worries about lost funds. I applaud the Attorney General and her team for their diligent work to ensure our constituents will receive the money they’re owed.”
