Blauvelt, NY – A 68-year-old Tappan man lost his life after his vehicle veered off the road and struck a large rock and an embankment on Thursday morning, according to the Orangetown Police Department. The crash occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on Clausland Mountain Road near the intersection with Tweed Boulevard.
The driver, who was driving a 2008 Pontiac G5 sedan, was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 66-year-old female passenger, who was also in the car, was taken to the same hospital in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have suffered a medical episode prior to losing control of the vehicle. Police have not released the identities of either victim.
