Clarkstown Prepares for Winter Storm; Services Suspended, Warming Center Open

Clarkstown, NY — Town of Clarkstown officials say municipal departments are fully prepared ahead of an expected winter storm, with crews and emergency services ready to respond as conditions deteriorate.

The Clarkstown Highway Department has pretreated roadways with brine, and all 56 plow trucks are stocked with salt and ready for deployment. Officials said plowing and salting operations will continue throughout the storm to keep major roadways passable.

The Clarkstown Police Department will also increase its storm readiness, with officers strategically pre-positioned throughout patrol sectors to ensure timely emergency response. Officials reminded residents that overnight parking is prohibited in the Town from November 15 through April 1, and that all on-street parking is strictly prohibited during storm conditions to allow for safe and efficient snow removal.

As part of the town’s storm response, the Street Community Center, located at 31 Zukor Road in New City, will open as a warming center on Sunday, January 25. Residents will be able to stay warm and charge electronic devices if needed.

Several municipal services and programs will be affected by the storm. All garbage and recycling collection in Clarkstown has been canceled for Monday, and residents are asked not to place refuse at the curb. In addition, all Parks and Recreation Senior Club meetings scheduled for Monday, January 26, are canceled.

The Clarkstown Justice Court’s criminal court calendar for Monday, January 26, has been rescheduled to Friday, January 30.

Town officials said updates will be posted regularly on social media as conditions change, and residents are encouraged to follow official Town of Clarkstown channels for the latest information.
