Cold weather continues, local program reopen, and some upcoming career fairs in Rockland
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — With winter in full swing and snow cleanup efforts ongoing, local communities across Rockland are staying active through seasonal programs, job fairs, and public service updates.
Weather Update: A stable stretch of cold winter weather continues with Tuesday’s temperatures hovering around 18°F and wind chills as low as 6°F. Snow flurries are giving way to mostly cloudy skies. Residents are advised to stay warm and allow for snow removal efforts to continue.
Nyack Parking Update: The snow emergency in the Village of Nyack was lifted Tuesday morning. Residents may now park on residential streets, except where temporary no-parking signs remain in effect. Village parking lots are free and mostly cleared, but metered and alternate-side regulations have resumed.
Clarkstown Recreation:
- Friday Bowling Program: Open to grades K-12, runs from February 6 through May 8 at New City Bowl. Cost: $190 (or $250 with a custom bowling ball). Excludes specific dates.
- Senior Bingo Fun: Tuesday, January 26 from 1:15–3:15 p.m. at Central Nyack Community Center. Free with snacks and coffee.
- Stay Fit Senior Circuit: Launches Monday, February 9 with 30-minute wellness sessions at 1:00 and 1:30 p.m. Pre-registration required.
Job Fairs Announced:
- Dominican University: Hosting a career and internship expo on Tuesday, March 10 from 2–5 p.m.
- St. Thomas Aquinas College: Will hold a job and internship fair on Thursday, March 19 from 12:30–3:30 p.m.
