Nyack, NY — On Sunday, October 20, 2024, Supervisor Kenny joined law enforcement officials, elected representatives, and members of the O’Grady, Brown, and Paige families, along with community members, at the entrance to the New York State Thruway to honor the fallen in the 43rd Commemoration of the Brinks Robbery.
This annual tribute serves as a solemn reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of Sgt. Edward O’Grady Jr., Police Officer Waverly “Chipper” Brown, and Brinks guard Peter Paige, who lost their lives in the line of duty during the infamous Brinks armored truck robbery in 1981.
Four decades later, the community continues to gather in their memory, reflecting the enduring respect and gratitude for these men who gave their lives in service and protection of others. The ceremony stands as a testament to the unity and resilience of the Rockland community, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep it safe.
