Clarkstown, NY – The Clarkstown Police Department has officially welcomed its newest K9 officer, Drogo, thanks to a generous donation from local resident Michelle Mattei. The donation, recognized at this week’s Town Board meeting, ensures that the Clarkstown Police Department continues to have the necessary resources to maintain safety and security in the community.
K9 Drogo recently completed a rigorous 17-week patrol K9 training program at the Yonkers Police Department. Since December, he has been actively serving alongside his partner, Officer Eric Levy, contributing to public safety efforts across the town.
“K9s are an invaluable asset to our law enforcement team,” said Clarkstown Police Chief Wanamaker. “Drogo’s training and skills enhance our ability to keep our officers and residents safe, and we are immensely grateful to Michelle Mattei for her generosity.”
The new K9 addition was celebrated during the Town Board meeting, where Town of Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann, members of the Town Board, and Town Clerk Lauren Marie Wohl joined Chief Wanamaker in expressing gratitude to Mattei for her support.
K9s like Drogo play critical roles in various law enforcement tasks, including search and rescue operations, detecting narcotics, tracking suspects, and providing an additional layer of protection to officers in the field. Their keen senses and specialized training make them indispensable partners in keeping the community secure.
As K9 Drogo settles into his role, the Clarkstown Police Department looks forward to showcasing his skills and introducing him to the community at future public safety events.
Residents are encouraged to follow the Clarkstown Police Department on social media for updates on Drogo’s work and other public safety initiatives.
