West Nyack, NY — A big round of applause goes to Girl Scout Troop 40179 for their environmental stewardship and hands-on learning this week at the Historic Traphagen Property, adjacent to Germonds Park.
The troop successfully installed two bluebird nesting boxes with guidance from the Audubon Society, learning how to properly build and place the boxes to encourage bluebird nesting. Their efforts contribute to local conservation and provide safe habitats for native bird species.
The project was supported by the Town’s Department of Engineering and Facilities Management (DEFM), whose staff assisted the scouts during installation.
While on site, Supervisor George Hoehmann gave the scouts a special tour of the property’s historic homes, adding a dose of local history to the day’s activities.
This project reflects the spirit of community, education, and environmental care that the Girl Scouts are known for—great job, Troop 40179!
