STONY POINT, N.Y. — Five male suspects, including three 18-year-olds and two juveniles, were charged after Stony Point police investigated a reported burglary at a warehouse early March 28, according to a police press release.
Police said the case began at about 12:05 a.m., when a local business owner contacted the Stony Point Police Department after seeing several people on remote security cameras inside and around his storage area at a warehouse in Stony Point. The individuals were reportedly wearing hoods and face masks.
According to police, the first officers who arrived at the property found an unoccupied vehicle parked at the entrance, positioned out of sight from the building. Officers then located one male outside the warehouse and saw another person run from the scene into a wooded area. A description of that individual was broadcast to responding officers.
As officers searched the area, police said they recovered property that had been removed from the business, as well as a black face mask. During the response, two male suspects allegedly tried to leave the area in a vehicle but were stopped and taken into custody a short distance from the warehouse. Two more male suspects were later found and arrested nearby, police said.
In total, five suspects were apprehended in connection with the incident.
Stony Point detectives later responded to the scene and obtained security video from the business owner, according to the release. Police said the footage showed the suspects inside the warehouse and leaving with multiple items. Detectives then interviewed the people who had been arrested and, according to police, obtained confessions from all five.
The charges announced in the release include third-degree burglary, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and unlawful possession of cannabis. Police did not provide a breakdown of which defendants received which counts beyond saying all five were involved in the incident.
Authorities also said the investigation led detectives to connect some of the defendants to an earlier burglary at the same location. According to police, two of the 18-year-olds and one 17-year-old arrested in the March 28 case were identified as suspects in a previous burglary at the warehouse that took place on March 22, 2026, at about 12:50 a.m. Police said those defendants were also charged in connection with that earlier incident.
The press release did not identify the suspects by name, and the juvenile defendants were not named. Police said the juveniles’ parents were notified and were present at the station during the arrest process.
A number of outside agencies assisted Stony Point police during the response and follow-up investigation. The Rockland County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation helped process the scene and recover evidence, according to the release. Additional assistance came from the Haverstraw Police Department, which sent a K-9 unit, as well as the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Intelligence Division, New York State Police, New York State Park Police, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
Police credited the multi-agency response with helping officers search the area and apprehend all five suspects.
The three 18-year-old defendants were processed and released on their own recognizance, police said. They were issued appearance tickets directing them to return to court on April 23, 2026, at 1:30 p.m.
The two juvenile defendants were arraigned and released to their parents. Their next court date was set for March 30, 2026, at 2 p.m., according to police.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
The case remains notable not only for the number of agencies involved, but also because police said the investigation linked some of the same suspects to a second burglary at the same business within less than a week. Authorities did not say in the release how much property was allegedly taken or recovered, or whether the business suffered additional damage during either incident.
The investigation was led by the Stony Point Police Department with support from county, state and federal law enforcement partners.
