HAVERSTRAW, NY – A resident of Admirals Cove in Haverstraw was arrested Tuesday afternoon, April 7, after several days of reported disturbances at the beleaguered luxury rental complex, according to accounts shared by numerous residents in community messages.
In a subsequent interview by Rockland News with the new head of Property Management – Erica, as well as a Vice President of GDC – Gregg, stated:
“It is important that we ensure the safety of all residents at Admirals Cove, especially at a time like this. We are in communication with law enforcement regarding this matter, and are also keeping the residents updated.
Regarding the specific individual that was arrested, we would urge anyone with questions about the individual to speak directly with law enforcement.”
During the interview, Erica and Gregg also provided updates to address recent concerns by residents, including repairs and parts installations to central HVAC systems, elevators and mold remediation.
Addressing Recent Issues with Repairs and Responsiveness
Specifically, Gregg, VP for GDC Management – stated the following:
“Over the past few weeks, we’ve worked to address a variety of issues that have been a concern for some of the residents at Admirals Cove. We note that there have been issues with the heating and air conditioning unit over the winter. We’re pleased to report that we’ve been able to order the necessary parts to address a good number of those issues.
At the moment, we don’t have any open complaints for the HVAC systems. However, if other issues do arise – we are going to address them more rapidly…and communicatively with the residents.”
Erica, the new on-site Director of Property Management at Admirals Cove, echoed Gregg’s statement of speedy response and communication with the residents – indicating that she has been working to address concerns more rapidly than her predecessor – a previous employee of GDC who was relieved of his position in March 2026.
Erica also related several of her experiences in Property Management for the past 20 years, and agreed that keeping an open line of communication with the residents is key to reducing the number of concerns at the rental facility, long-term.
Admirals Cove property management has dealt with a variety of complaints from tenants in the past several months – one major thread that ran through all of them was slow responsiveness to the concerns from tenants, ranging from heating and air conditioning issues, mold remediation, electrical outages, elevator malfunctions and other issues at a luxury complex that commands a $4000-$5000 monthly rental fee. Leases have been reportedly difficult to break.
Last month, the previous head of property management was quietly removed from his responsibilities, by the parent organization, GDC.
Erica – who stepped into the role in late March, said that she has been working to bridge the communication gap with residents – one that has – according to residents – been a pattern of the past several Property Managers.
“I can tell you, in my 20 years of working in Property Management, it’s a team effort. So we’ll be doing more to reach out and keep the residents posted on what is happening, and aim to address any concerns that come up here.”
In previous interviews with the Property Management company, the former manager did not return 6 calls to the main office by Rockland News, over a period of one month.
Our call today was responded to within 2 hours, and an interview was arranged.
In addition to the HVAC issues that residents had dealt with for several months, mold remediation and mechanical issues with elevators also pervaded the list of complaints by residents. On the call, Gregg stated that the elevator parts and repairs have also been ordered and installed, and the mold issues that were reported were part of an issue with condensation that affected the surface area near some of the windows of the complex.
“I need to be very clear,” Gregg stated. “The mold in question that was reported is surface mold that can be wiped using household cleaners. And we have needed to explain this to the tenants, we will continue to communicate this. But we don’t want to give anyone the wrong impression of what type of mold it is. It’s surface mold.“
Tenant with Pattern of Erratic Behavior Arrested Today
Prior to today’s interview, Admirals Cove employees also dealt with the arrest of a tenant that exhibited disturbing behavior over the past two weeks, which rapidly became a safety issue.

Residents said law enforcement had responded multiple times to concerns involving the individual before the arrest, which was reported at about 1 p.m. Tuesday. Several posts described police activity late Monday night and again Tuesday morning, with residents saying officers from multiple agencies had been at the property.
In messages shared by residents over the past several days on an Admirals Cove Tenants Association online forum, neighbors described a pattern of behavior they said had caused growing concern in common areas of the complex. Those reports included allegations of package tampering or theft, abusing the privilege of shared space usage – remaining there for extended periods, leaving behind trash and other messes, and interactions that made some residents feel unsafe.
On April 3, residents reported police were called after an incident in a common lounge area involving unusual behavior, a dispute over a food delivery, and concerns about items being removed from the shared spaces. Some residents also raised concerns that missing packages may have been connected to the same individual, though those claims had not been independently verified.
By April 6, residents said police had returned to the complex several times as additional concerns were reported. Community posts described torn-open packages, repeated police presence, and at least one account from a resident who said an encounter in a hallway left her feeling uncomfortable. Other residents said management was reviewing security camera footage and working with police.
Late Monday and into Tuesday, residents reported a larger law enforcement response as officers attempted to make contact with the resident. By Tuesday afternoon, neighbors posted that the resident was being taken into custody.
GDC’s Property Manager stated that she and the employees were cooperating with law enforcement, and have been in communication with the residents regarding this matter, citing an email that was sent out today, to update residents on the situation.
Potential Steps Toward Better Communication
GDC’s Property Management representatives weren’t the only ones to signal a desire for better communication.
One member of Admirals Cove Tenants Association posted a message, calling for a formal meeting with property management to discuss safety, security, lease enforcement, and the handling of complaints. He created a Google Form for the residents to list their complaints and identify specific issues:
“Instead of a town hall style where they will feel overwhelmed I suggest we send over a list of questions, give them an opportunity to compile responses and have a meeting in the club house at a selected time where one resident would represent the group to ask follow-ups, then share meeting notes after for anyone who couldn’t attend.”
Numerous tenants expressed their approval of this approach.
Rockland News will continue to follow the story of Admirals Cove as it evolves.
