Orangetown, NY – In a concerted effort aimed at enhancing public safety, Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco III, in collaboration with Chief Donald Butterworth and the Orangetown Police Department, as well as the New York State Police, organized a Community Gun Buyback event in South Nyack, Town of Orangetown.
During the event, Sheriff Falco disclosed that a total of 35 firearms were collected, contributing to the ongoing efforts to mitigate the threat of gun violence in Rockland County.
The breakdown of the surrendered firearms is as follows:
- Handguns: 19
- Rifles/Shotguns: 11
- Antique/Non-Working: 5
In addressing the issue of gun violence, Sheriff Falco emphasized the importance of collaborative initiatives like the Community Gun Buyback event. He stated, “Gun violence continues to threaten the people of Rockland County and throughout our state. Working with our partners in Orangetown and the State Police last evening, we removed 35 firearms from our community, guns that could have potentially been used in criminal and other violent acts. We will continue to partner with all of Rockland County law enforcement in our continuing efforts to keep the people of Rockland County safe.”
