From May 19 to 25, 2024, the nation will observe Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, marking the 50th anniversary of this important event. This week is dedicated to honoring the dedication and hard work of EMS professionals who play a crucial role in safeguarding the health and safety of our communities.
This year, Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town Board of Clarkstown recognized the invaluable contributions of the local Ambulance Corps with special certificates of appreciation. The honored organizations included the Nanuet, New City, Congers Valley Cottage, Nyack, and Spring Hill Ambulance Corps, as well as Rockland Paramedics.
Supervisor Hoehmann emphasized the significance of EMS professionals in our daily lives, stating, “The dedication and expertise of our EMS workers are vital to our community’s well-being. We owe them our deepest gratitude for their relentless service and commitment.”
The Town Board’s recognition event highlighted the critical role these first responders play in emergency situations, often being the first on the scene and providing life-saving care. The presentation of certificates was a gesture of appreciation for their tireless efforts and unwavering dedication.
As we celebrate National EMS Week, it is an opportunity for the community to reflect on the bravery and skill of EMS workers. These professionals work around the clock, often in challenging and dangerous conditions, to ensure that immediate medical care is available when needed.
To all EMS workers, your service to our community does not go unnoticed. Your bravery, compassion, and expertise are the bedrock of our emergency medical response system. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to keeping us safe and healthy.
The 50th anniversary of EMS Week is a milestone that underscores the evolution and significance of the EMS profession over the past five decades. As we honor these heroes, let us also commit to supporting and advocating for their continued success and well-being.
