Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco III has announced a community gun buyback event to be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Church, located at 245 N. Main St. in Spring Valley, NY. The event is organized in partnership with the Spring Valley Police and Ramapo Police Departments, the New York State Police, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, and all local law enforcement agencies.
“Senseless gun violence continues to plague our county, state, and the entire nation. Any firearms that we can remove from our streets can potentially prevent them from being used in criminal and other violent acts that negatively impact our communities. I am proud to partner with all of Rockland County law enforcement in our ongoing efforts to keep the people safe,” Sheriff Falco said.
Guns can be surrendered anonymously with no identification required and no questions asked. Compensation for surrendered firearms will be made via pre-paid gift cards according to the following payment schedule:
- Assault Rifles: $250.00
- Handguns: $150.00
- Rifles or Shotguns: $75.00
- Non-Working or Antique Guns: $25.00
Participants must ensure that firearms are transported unloaded and stored in the trunk of a vehicle. Licensed gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement officers are not eligible to participate in this program. For complete details, please refer to the attached flyer.
