STONY POINT, NY – The caffeine apocalypse has been averted. At least in Stony Point.
Dunkin’ on 291 Willow Grove Road Stony Point has officially opened its doors. You may now cease pacing your kitchen floors in angst, biting your nails, and posting “When will Dunkin’ open?” on the North Rockland Community Facebook Group. The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived, and the scents of dark roast coffee and wake-up wraps are once again permeating their way through Stony Point.
And what an opening it is. Dunkin’ didn’t just show up—it’s come back bigger and better than ever. The place has undergone a full makeover, inside and out, as if it’s not just a coffee shop but some kind of caffeinated palace. There’s new parking in the rear, meaning that not only can you finally get your medium iced coffee, but you can be less likely to honk or curse at your fellow Townsperson.
Local resident Matt Sloboda, who has been keeping close tabs on the construction and has accounted for nearly every bolt used, summed it up perfectly: “It couldn’t come at a better time with the construction going on along 9W and Hammond Road/Suffern Lane. Also, with school starting, the kids can get their candy-flavored coffee drinks. Also, whoever advocated against a drive-thru are a bunch of morons.”
It’s true, Stony Point, the end is nigh—not of the world, but of the constant “When will Dunkin’ open?” posts:
Some chose to post anonymously, for fear of reprisals.
Claire, a frequent Facebook commentator, expressed the sentiment of an entire online community: “The end of the ‘When is Dunkin going to open’ posts. Amazing era, everyone, hope you find something new to fixate on.”
Rocky Alexander, everyone’s favorite unofficial town investigator and owner of Rock’s Kitchen (also located in Stony Point) offered some suggestions for future inquiries: “When will the traffic circle be complete? Or when will the construction on 9W be done? What is replacing Stop & Shop?” Rocky wondered aloud. “All anonymous by the way… but the ‘Rock Report’ will be there to answer any and all anonymous posts.”
Kevin added, “Great, I will move back to Stony Point immediately.”
But, of course, not everyone is thrilled. Stuart, a coffee purist, had this to say: “Brew at home, you knuckleheads.”
So there you have it, Stony Point. The Dunkin’ has opened, the store is beautiful, and you can stop holding your collective breath. Sure, the CHPE construction on 9W is still happening, and the Thiells traffic circle remains a mystery for another day, but at least now you can sip your coffee while pondering life’s bigger questions—like who wrote those anonymous posts.
Until then, enjoy your medium iced coffee, and raise a cup to the end of an era. Dunkin’ is back.
By the way, in case anyone was curious – at the time of publishing of this story — gas is currently $3.49.
