New City, NY – The Daniel & Trudy Regan Foundation will host its popular Artist Costume Ball on Saturday, September 28th, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at their grounds, located at 29 Woodland Road in New City, NY. This community event is free to attend, and in case of rain, the event will be rescheduled to Saturday, October 5th.
“The concept for the event grew from our desire to help artists showcase their talents, particularly after the pandemic,” shared Dan Regan, President of the Foundation. Last year’s event attracted over 700 attendees and featured the work of 80 artists who adorned 150 mannequins.
This year’s event will spotlight:
- 90 decorated and painted mannequins created by local artists
- 30 murals displayed and created for a mural competition
- Live dance performances by Emotions Physical Theatre (1:00 p.m.)
- Live music by Country Folk Band, led by Director Jeremy Regan
- Special presentations by artists Mark Lawrence and Gerald Collette
- Poetry readings and 3D collages by Bobby Chertok (2:00 p.m.)
- Antique toy display by Richard Thomas and dollhouse exhibit by Pamela Thomas
- Modern dyed hairstyle demonstration by Capri Beauty School (2:30 p.m.)
A unique feature of the event includes a costume parade where artists will showcase mannequins that match their own costumes. Judges will award prizes in various categories.
Mark Lawrence, a prominent tattoo artist turned muralist, will be displaying his murals. Lawrence now runs an innovative program called Graffiti Art and Literacy, where he teaches children to view letters and art in new ways, making a lasting impact on young minds.
The event will not feature artwork for sale, but will instead celebrate the diverse talents of the artists and honor the legacy of Trudy Regan, a lifelong contributor to the art world.
