I was born and raised in NYC by a single mom who worked multiple jobs to support our family. I
~Leslie Kahn
learned at a young age the importance of having a good work ethic. I put myself through
college and law school by working and taking out student loans.
I began my career at the Brooklyn DA Office as a criminal prosecutor where I worked for 25
years. Some of the positions I held were Bureau Chief of Domestic Violence, Chief of Firearms
Prosecution, and Chief of Adolescent Diversion.
I supervised hundreds of Assistant District Attorney’s with large caseloads –
I have supervised and tried over 200 cases, felonies and misdemeanors
Presented hundreds of cases to a Grand Jury
I have worked with law enforcement and community organizations to improve the
criminal justice system
During my tenure with the Brooklyn DA office I participated in the creation of many specialized
courts, including domestic violence court, IDV, YODV, which was the first of its kind nationwide,
Adolescent diversion, drug, veterans and mental health courts. In 2016 I was instrumental in
the DA office receiving a federal grant for the Adolescent Diversion Court. Additionally as Chief
of DV, the IDV Court which was under my supervision was recognized by the Office of Violence
Against Women as a national mentor court, one of only 7 nationwide.
In 2016, I joined the Clarkstown Town Attorney’s office. I work very closely with our building
department and Clarkstown residents to improve the enforcement of our codes. Since I joined,
the number of violations issued by the building department has increased and the number of
town Code prosecutions are significantly higher. I have worked to change the culture in Justice
Court, especially as it pertains to the illegal conversion of single family homes into multi family
homes. I was asked to participate in a County wide training both in Rockland and Orange on
how to improve enforcement of town codes.
I have been before hundreds of judges during my career and I know what it takes to be an
excellent judge. I have the compassion, integrity and patience and the ability to listen to all
sides.
If you elect me, you will be getting someone who knows their way around a courtroom, knows
Clarkstown Justice Court and has extensive experience in both criminal and municipal law.
I will work full time for the residents of Clarkstown to ensure the cases heard before me are
heard fairly and efficiently. I will not hold any other position in any other municipality or Court if
elected. I will be 100 percent devoted to the Town of Clarkstown.
Thank you all for your time and consideration
