Nyack, NY – A dive team searching the Hudson River near Nyack made a somber discovery on Tuesday, retrieving a body believed to be connected to a recent missing person case in the area. The individual, who was later identified to be Kevin Altidort – a graduate of Spring Valley High School – was recovered from the waters close to a popular park near Nyack. Kevin had been reported missing for several days prior.
The operation began in response to reports of a possible drowning, with authorities initially alerted over the weekend to a missing person case involving a local youth. Preliminary information suggests that young person was last seen on Saturday, possibly while skateboarding at a nearby park.
As reported by the Daily Voice‘s Kathy Reakes, Orangetown Police Capt. Michael Shannon confirmed that Spring Valley Police Detective Bureau was able to determine the missing person’s last known location – adjacent to the shore of the Hudson River in Nyack Memorial Park.
Local residents had been on edge since the initial reports surfaced, with many in on social media communities deeply concerned for the missing youth.
As reported today by Rockland Report, the family of the victim has been notified, and the Mother of the deceased expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support in the wake of the loss of her son. She also stated “May he rest in peace in the Lord’s arms.”
