Orangeburg, NY – Dominican University New York has officially commenced the search for its next president. The University is actively soliciting interested candidates to apply following the establishment of a Presidential Search and Screening Committee and the engagement of professional search firm, AGB Search.
Furthermore, Dominican University has developed a webpage containing links to a Presidential Search Profile, a search timeline, and instructions for applying for the position.
According to Trustee John F.M. Flynn, Ph.D., Chair of the Presidential Search and Screening Committee, “The Presidential Search Profile will guide the search and was drafted with information gathered from Listening Sessions hosted by AGB consultants and a community survey. As described in the profile, our ideal candidate will model servant leadership, be emotionally intelligent, culturally competent, inspiring, collaborative, and a visionary leader.”
While an earned doctorate, a distinguished history in progressively responsible leadership roles, and a track record of scholarship are preferred among candidates, the University’s next president should also be mission-driven, student-focused, financially competent, a proven fundraiser, an enthusiastic university ambassador, a proficient decision-maker, and a committed academic leader. A comprehensive list of desired attributes is available in the Presidential Search Profile.
The next president of Dominican University is expected to prioritize leadership initiatives such as advancing the mission while maintaining a relationship with the Dominican Sisters, achieving long-term and comprehensive financial stability, strengthening student enrollment, retention, and success, fostering community and articulating a bold, unifying shared vision of the future, promoting a culture of philanthropy among internal and external constituencies, enhancing a commitment to academic excellence and expanding academic programs, developing a new Strategic Plan for the university, fortifying campus culture and unity, and furthering diversity and inclusion efforts.
