Free Repairs At Haverstraw Center
New City, NY – The County of Rockland will host the next Rockland Repair Café on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022, from 10 am – 1 pm at The Haverstraw Center, 50 West Broad Street, in the Village of Haverstraw.
Volunteer Repair Coaches will be available to fix various items including lamps, computers, clothing, frames, small appliances, wooden items, toys, and electronics free of charge. Spanish speaking volunteers will also be available to provide translation, if needed.
There is a 2-item limit and anything that can be carried in will be considered for repair, except for items with gas engines (i.e.no lawn mowers, chainsaws, gas-powered landscaping equipment). Repair Coaches will assess items and repair it for free, provided they have the materials needed.
This youth-friendly, community event, is sponsored by Rockland Conservation & Service Corps (a program of the Rockland County Youth Bureau), Rockland Green, Rockland BOCES, and the Village of Haverstraw.
“Repairs not only save money and resources, but they can also help minimize CO2 emissions. Reducing what we put into the trash is how we can make the greatest impact,” says Damiani.
“I ask the people of Rockland to think twice before tossing away a broken household item,” said County Executive Ed Day. “Instead, bring it to our Repair Café, extend its life, and protect our planet from further waste.”
