Albany, NY – New York State Senator Pete Harckham officially began his fourth term in office on Wednesday, as he was sworn in for the start of the 2025 legislative session in Albany. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for Harckham, who has represented his district with a focus on environmental conservation and community advocacy.
Harckham was joined by his Albany staff and the entire team from his Peekskill office, who traveled to Albany to witness and celebrate the occasion. Their presence underscored the strong collaborative efforts that define Harckham’s leadership style.
This term marks Harckham’s second as chair of the Environmental Conservation Committee, a role in which he has worked to champion initiatives addressing climate change, sustainability, and the protection of New York’s natural resources.
Thus far, Senator Harckham has established a platform centered on environmental conservation, public health, education, and fiscal management. As Chair of the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee, he has focused on a significant number of environmental legislation issues, notably the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.
Senator Harckham also introduced legislation mandating that all new passenger car and truck sales be zero-emission by 2035.
