Haverstraw, NY – Even the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the thousands who attended the 9th annual Haverstraw Food and Beer Crawl today. While the wet weather led to a dip in attendance compared to last year, the heart of the village of Haverstraw was filled with enthusiastic attendees from Rockland and Westchester, eager to enjoy the diverse culinary and beverage offerings, as well as the rich history that the event celebrates.
One of the event’s major highlights was the performance by The Amish Outlaws, a band well-received by the energetic crowd. Their unique mix of traditional and modern tunes resonated with attendees, capping a day filled with eclectic tastes and sounds.
Food and craft beer vendors from all over Rockland County converged on Haverstraw, showcasing everything from classic American fare to more exotic culinary delights – such as Vilma’s Bakery, Unions Restaurant and the Stony Point Brewing Company. The event served as a melting pot, mirroring the diverse history and culture of Haverstraw itself.
Craft beer enthusiasts were not disappointed either. Despite the rain, stalls offering a variety of local and imported brews were buzzing with activity. Lines ere seen at many of these stalls, with patrons eager to sample a diverse array of ales, lagers, and more. Conversations about hop profiles, brewing techniques, and personal favorites could be heard throughout the venue.
Beyond the food and music, the Haverstraw Food and Beer Crawl has always been about community and heritage. Nestled along the Hudson River, the village of Haverstraw has a rich tapestry of history that many outside of North Rockland might not be familiar with. This event serves as a reminder of the village’s significant contributions to the broader Rockland County area and beyond.
Despite the challenges posed by the weather, organizers were pleased with the turnout. “It takes a Village to host a successful Food Crawl. Rain or shine, Haverstraw shows up,” said Magda Truchen. “It’s a testament to the resilience and spirit of our community. We’re already looking forward to the 10th annual crawl next year. The Village of Haverstraw thanks everyone who attended.”
Attendees left with satisfied appetites, perhaps a new favorite beer, and a deeper appreciation for the village of Haverstraw and its enduring legacy. The 9th annual Haverstraw Food and Beer Crawl might have been a bit wetter than past events, but it proved that a little rain is no match for good food, great music, and a community that comes together to celebrate its heritage.
