New City, NY — A Bardonia man is facing felony charges after allegedly attempting to send sexually explicit material to someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl. The individual turned out to be an undercover investigator, part of a multi-agency task force targeting online crimes against children.
Victor Caligiuri, 28, was arraigned in Rockland County Court this week on an indictment charging him with four counts of Attempted Disseminating Indecent Materials to Minors in the First Degree. He appeared before Judge Kevin F. Russo, who ordered Caligiuri released without bail—despite objections from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Caligiuri is accused of using the messaging app Kik between June 1 and August 31, 2025, to send explicit messages, photos, and videos to a profile he believed belonged to a 14-year-old girl. In reality, he was communicating with an undercover investigator from the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
The operation was led by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The Clarkstown Police Department also assisted in the suspect’s apprehension.
“This operation required vigilance, coordination, and commitment, and I’m proud of the efforts this team put forth in protecting children and keeping Rockland County safe,” said District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II in a statement.
During the arraignment, the DA’s Office requested bail be set at $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or a $75,000 partially secured bond. Russo denied the request and released Caligiuri without any bail conditions—a decision that drew a strong objection from prosecutors.
The case is being handled by Supervising Assistant District Attorney Gerard M. Damiani III of the Special Victims Unit, along with Senior Assistant District Attorney Katherine McLaughlin.
Caligiuri is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing.
