NEW CITY, N.Y. โ A Rockland County Court judge has ruled that Blanchard Glaudin, 31, is not fit to proceed in connection with the 2020 fatal stabbing of a security guard at the Finkelstein Library in Spring Valley.
According to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II, Judge Djinsad Desir determined that Glaudin lacks the capacity to understand the proceedings against him due to mental disease or defect. On Feb. 26, 2026, the court ordered that he be remanded to the custody of the state Office of Mental Health for care and treatment at a secure facility.
Glaudin previously pleaded guilty on Dec. 9, 2025, to one count of second-degree murder in Rockland County Court. He admitted that on Feb. 18, 2020, he stabbed library security guard Sandra Wilson multiple times at the Finkelstein Library, causing her death.
In a statement, Walsh said that although sentencing did not take place as scheduled, Glaudin will remain confined in a secure facility and will not be released to the public.
The case was investigated by the Spring Valley Police Department and prosecuted by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Dominic Crispino.
