The Village of Nyack has released a status update outlining ongoing snow management operations following the recent winter storm.
Village officials announced that there is no sanitation collection today, with the regular schedule resuming on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Village Hall is closed to the public, and staff are working remotely.
The Nyack Department of Public Works (DPW) has worked continuously throughout the storm. Officials thanked the DPW team, led by Supervisor Jonathan Abrams, for their efforts.
DPW’s first priority remains clearing streets within the Snow Emergency Zone to ensure travel lanes remain open once vehicles return to on-street parking. As a result, Snow Emergency Zone parking restrictions remain in effect on Main Street, Broadway, Midland Avenue, High Avenue, and other designated streets until snow removal is completed. Snow removal will continue largely overnight until finished. Residents are asked to avoid parking in the zone until further notice.
The second phase will focus on clearing streets outside the Snow Emergency Zone. Alternate-side parking rules are in effect in those areas. Residents are urged to dig out and move their vehicles so plows can fully clear curbside parking lanes.
Municipal parking lots remain free of charge, and the overnight parking prohibition in these lots continues to be lifted. Officials note that space is available, particularly at the marina parking lot.
Cars towed from the Snow Emergency Zone can be retrieved by contacting Congers Collision at 845-589-0685.
Code Enforcement will begin issuing sidewalk clearing warnings and violations starting Tuesday afternoon. Residents are reminded not to place shoveled snow into the street when yard space is available. DPW noted that plowing may push snow back onto sidewalks, which is unavoidable, but crews will make efforts to clear to the curb line.
For snow removal concerns, residents can contact Nyack DPW at 845-358-3552. Emergencies should be reported by calling 911.
Village officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation as crews continue working to restore safe conditions for driving, parking, and walking.
