Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town of Clarkstown received the NYS Historic Preservation Award for Excellence in Historic Building Rehabilitation for the Onderdonck-Tallman-Budke House. The historic house is adjacent to Germonds Park in West Nyack. Supervisor Hoehmann was joined by Paula Tobin and Madeline Muller of Heritage of West Nyack and Stephen Tilly, Architect at the ceremony.
The house is an excellent representation of Jersey Dutch sandstone architecture in the lower Hudson Valley. It was constructed in multiple phases with the initial work dating back to 1735. The house was expanded to the east circa 1755 and to the north circa 1791. Extensive alterations were performed around the 1880’s-90’s by George Budke, which was the time period used for interpretation of this restoration.
