The 11th Annual Anthony Amoros Memorial Car Show comes to Haverstraw tomorrow. The event is named for 18 year-old Anthony Amoros who was killed in a car crash on Thiells-Mount Ivy Road 11 years ago in a recently-purchased used car. The airbags had been removed from the car before Amoros purchased it, and he didn’t know they were missing. Rockland State Senator Bill Weber of the 38th district says the Amaros family has taken their personal tragedy and worked for many years to help save others’ lives and support the community…
In 2021, Governor Kathy Hochul signed the “Anthony Amoros” law, prohibiting used car dealers from selling vehicles without airbags. Donations and admission fees raised at the event tomorrow will go to Anthony’s scholarship fund. The event is being held tomorrow 11am-4pm at the Haverstraw Elks Lodge #877 in Haverstraw.
