Downtown Suffern was re-opened Wednesday afternoon after an early-morning fire yesterday shut the area by Lafayette Avenue and Suffern Place. A fire ripped through the building at 83 Lafayette Avenue, next door to the movie theater. The Journal-News reported the fire started on the first floor in Rockland Halal Meat, located at the western corner of the building. The cause is under investigation. There were no injuries reported.
