A large pediatric dentistry group with offices in New Jersey, Vermont and New York, including one here in Rockland, has been fined by the New York Attorney General’s Office more than $750,000 after they performed unnecessary surgeries known as “Baby Root Canals” and charged Medicaid for them. Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement yesterday that Barry Jacobson and his group HQRC Management Services, which the AG says includes Pediatric Dentistry of Monsey, performed unnecessary pulpotomies, which treats tooth decay, from 2011 to 2018. The case came to light when a former employee of HQRC turned whistleblower.
