The New York State Public Service Commission has approved Orange and Rockland Utilities’ plans for a new, $57.8-million, two-year electric system construction project designed to boost electric service reliability and system resiliency for around 45,000 O&R customers. O&R spokesman Mike Donovan says the new 5.5-mile underground transmission line will be installed mainly within secondary public roadways in the southwest section of Clarkstown, connecting a substation in Nanuet to another one in West Nyack…
The route will not require property easements over private lands except from CSX railway. The project cuts costs as installation will be in roadways within the public transportation rights-of-way. No construction will occur within wetlands or forested lands. No word yet on when the project might start.
