The House failed Wednesday to pass a six-month GOP government funding plan that included a controversial measure targeting non-citizen voting. The defeat of the bill increases the chances of a government shutdown beginning at the end of September. Reuters reported Senate Majority Leader, Democrat Chuck Schumer, said yesterday they’re preparing a stopgap spending bill that would avert a partial government shutdown. House Republicans have not yet said what their next move would be.
