New York state health officials declared polio an imminent threat to public health late last month. Polio has been found in wastewater here in Rockland, Orange and Sullivan Counties, and New York City. Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert, Rockland’s health commissioner, told CNBC that she never thought she’d see a case of polio in the United States, and certainly not in Rockland County.
