The C-D-C says more than 100-thousand fatal drug overdoses occurred in the first 12 months of the pandemic. The D-A’s office has what’s called “Drug Court” which was set up over 20 years ago as an alternative to incarceration for certain drug offenders. The drug court connects low-level criminal defendants suffering from substance abuse to treatment services in the community.
