Rockland’s GOP leader, who had been seeking to head up the state’s Republican party, has backed down and endorsed a former party chief. Rockland Republican party chairman Lawrence Garvey was looking to succeed Nick Langworthy, who was elected to Congress in November. On Wednesday, Garvey dropped out and endorsed Ed Cox for state GOP party chairman. Cox served in that position from 2009 to 2019.
