A truck fire earlier this week at the Rockland Green Bowline/Haverstraw Transfer Station on Beach Road in West Haverstraw sent seven volunteer firefighters to the hospital after they apparently inhaled chlorine that had been improperly disposed of. The firefighters were all treated and released from Westchester Medical Center that night, but how the chlorine got into the truck is under investigation. The incident happened early Monday afternoon, and Haverstraw supervisor Howard Phillips, who heads up Rockland Green, says it’s important to dispose of chemicals, paints and other hazardous materials properly…
