Tourism is on the rise in the county, as is movie and TV production. All of it contributes to the county’s bottom line. Lucy Redzeposki, Rockland’s head of Economic Development, Tourism and Film, spoke at the RBA’s membership luncheon at Mount Fuji in Hillburn yesterday, and said your taxes would be higher if not for other folks who come here and spend their money…
Redzeposki says back in the day Rockland was rarely thought of as a tourism destination, but she enjoys encouraging those who spend lots of time sight-seeing in the city to instead stay overnight in a Rockland hotel or eat in a restaurant here in the county. She enjoys when TV shows or movies refer to or say the word “Rockland,” even if they don’t film here. That happened recently with the Netflix TV series “The Watcher,” about a house in Westfield, New Jersey, which was filmed in Westchester.
