The Modified Stage II Water Emergency has been lifted here in Rockland County. The county executive and the health department say recent rainfall has boosted water levels enough in the Ramapo River and Lake DeForest Reservoir. Additionally, Rockland County Executive Ed Day says as families contend with record-high inflation and high gas prices, the water company’s Public Service Commission-approved 25% surcharge on high-volume water users, which would have taken effect this coming weekend, can now be set aside…
Water usage had fallen about 15% in Rockland since the mandatory restrictions were put into effect. Residents are asked to voluntarily continue limiting usage and keep outdoor watering to a minimum.
