43 years ago Monday, two Nyack police officers and a Brinks guard were gunned down by members of the Black Liberation Army and Weather Underground. They jumped from the back of a truck and ambushed them following a robbery at the old Nanuet Mall, making off with $1.6 million from a Brinks armored truck. Rockland officials and law enforcement personnel will pay tribute to Sergeant Edward O’Grady, Officer Waverly “Chipper” Brown and guard Peter Paige on Sunday in Nyack. Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco remembers the day well…
The ceremony is Sunday at 4pm by the stone memorial and plaque on Mountainview Avenue in Nyack off Route 59, right by the Thruway exit 11 entrance ramp.
