A bill that would have banned the sale of menthol-flavored cigarettes in Westchester has been vetoed by the county executive there. That’s according to published reports. Westchester County Executive George Latimer said the effort to reduce tobacco usage among kids was genuine, but too many questions were raised over enforcement and whether the bill unfairly targeted minority communities. It’s unclear whether the veto can withstand an override by the Legislature.
