New City, NY – Please join Rockland Conservation & Service Corps (RCSC), their friends and supporters as they celebrate the accomplishments of the 2021 Conservation Corps Members on Thursday, August 12from 1 pm – 4 pm at the Rockland County Fire Training Center, 35 Firemen’s Memorial Drive in Pomona.
Twenty-four RCSC members will be showcasing demonstrations that summarize the key environmental concepts, projects and achievements they accomplished at eleven site placements throughout the Rockland region. Projects include: the maintenance and construction of walking and hiking trails, drainage and flooding mitigation on behalf of several municipalities, food recovery, Hudson River Fish Advisory, Spotted Lanternfly detection and service with the Rockland County Drainage Agency, Division of Environmental Resources, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Together Our Unity Can Heal (TOUCH), Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County, among many others.
Presentations involve demonstrations, videos, games and other creative projects highlighting the Conservation Corps’ summer of service to Rockland. These engaging displays will also educate about important local environmental issues.
The open house-style event will begin at 1 pm and pause at 2 pm to feature guest speakers and award presentations. Demonstrations will resume after guest speakers and continue until 4 pm.
